Why would the fire brigade call at my home?

Ok..AIBU for traffic as genuinely stumped

I’ve just come home and the lady next door stopped me and said the fire brigade came with a big van? And that she told them what time we would be back home from work and that they said they may come back tonight or tomorrow ..

I asked my neighbour if she knew what it was about and she just shrugged and said “the fire brigade” ... strange.
Do you have any idea why this may be? We haven’t requested home visit for smoke alarms or anything? I genuinely can’t think of a reason.

Any ideas? Anyone experienced this before?

Not for a Home safety check is it?
Sometimes they check the alarms

Scoleah · 12/07/2019 18:27

Sorry just read you hadn't requested it.
Perhaps it was a Courtesy call

CynthiaRothrock · 12/07/2019 18:30

Are you new to the property? The last occupier may have been vunerable or had alarms installed ans ir could be a routine check up on them?

sallyscallop · 12/07/2019 18:32

They just frock up occasionally when they are quiet and offer to fit smoke alarms - especially if your road is bungalow laden!

MyOpinionIsValid · 12/07/2019 18:33

Phone the fire station and ask.

BackforGood · 12/07/2019 18:34

They offer fire safety work when they have time - promoting use of smaok alarms and having an escape plan, shutting doors, etc etc. Probably just working way round the estate.

Probably been a fire in a neighbour's house. The fire brigade then come back and go round the nearby houses and look at fore advice and can give smoke alarms etc

Same reason as the other poster on the other thread.
