Was this a sexist joke?

In so far as a thread about sexism can be light hearted, just pointing out this isn't actually something I'm genuinely annoyed about

This morning I posted what I thought was a moderately amusing Facebook status about the cognitive dissonance of Love Island (which I've got hooked on this series having previously ridiculed it). It said:

"Me: Love Island is a vapid waste of time that champions aesthetics over intellectualism

Also me: ....I could watch Ovie showering ALL DAY"

I've just got home and DP has declared my joke sexist on the grounds that "If I said that I'd get lambasted by everyone".

I said he didn't get the joke.

WIBU??

PS. I maintain Ovie is fiiiine.

Mmmm ish' but tell him to get a fuckin grip and stop being so touchy. It's a joke, jokes are generally a little offensive (to some that choose to be)

Oh please, there are men are convicted of actual rape in this country and don’t get ‘lambasted’, I think if he made a similar joke on Facebook he would be fine 🙄

I don't think it was particularly sexist, but it was sexual, which is what set off your DP. Now he knows how women feel with their DP's go on and on about some hot actress.

It wasn't jealousy...we talk about other hot people a lot. It was more "If I did that I'd get in trouble" 😂

Men would never make that kind of joke because they're unable to be both self depreciating and ironic

DP and so watch love island together - we like the drama but we also know each other finds the people attractive and we occasionally comment on it. Hardly makes either of us a pig

I have to say I don't think it's funny when the Strictly women judges perv over the handsome younger men, I find it a bit yuk, and I think that your DH might get a few negative comments on Facebook for the same crime.

However Ovie is very lovely and I do enjoy the showering and excessive lathering up. But I wouldn't say so in public because I'm too old.
