WIBU to reply I'm not bloody Amazon!

I'm selling a few bits on fb marketplace, all good condition most in original boxes. Basically baby bits that I was dumb enough to buy into the first time around which never really got used.

I've put it up really cheap as I just want rid now, the money will be split between the dcs money tins. If it doesn't go in a week or two I'll pop it over to a local charity or charity shop depending on what the charity is needing.

Because it's cheap I've had quite a lot of interest in some of the bits but almost everyone asks 'can you deliver?'. I've put our area and collection only on the ad, I know there is no harm in asking but it's getting bloody annoying now. I don't drive (due to medical reasons) and I'm not trekking across town with two small kids and bulky baby items on the bus.

So WIBU to reply to the next person who asks for delivery - I'm not bloody Amazon, collection only!

Or you could just say, No

FuriousVexation · 10/07/2019 08:46

No need to be that aggressive, or innacurate. Just say "No I'm afraid not."

I had to sell a lot of things recently, and I found that Gumtree was a lot less hassle than FB. Like you I got so many people asking for delivery when I’d made it clear it was collection only. My best/worst cheeky fucker was someone offering me a tenner for something I was looking for about £80 for. My reply to him was “I’d rather set it on fire”, and I meant it!

QueenEnid · 10/07/2019 08:53

YWBU to say that but I totally get your frustration!!!'

Ime- increase the price of the stuff you're selling. The cheaper it is the more time wasters you get

ScreamingValenta · 10/07/2019 08:54

I know you have put 'collection only' but could you add something more prominent to the description for the benefit of people who don't read these things carefully: 'Please note, I am UNABLE to deliver this item, so don't enquire unless you can COLLECT it.'

Giraffeinabox · 10/07/2019 08:55

They dont know you've had others ask you that. Yes YABU

DisplayPurposesOnly · 10/07/2019 08:55

It's amazing how people can't read isn't it.

I get snippy - "I did say 'collection only' in the ad".

TheBabyAteMyBrain · 10/07/2019 08:57

I've said no, politely, a gazillion times (slight exaggeration). I've put the area and collection only in capitals on the listings.

I'm not really going to reply it, but it's sorely tempting.

@poster TheBabyAteMyBrain I’d just had enough by that time! I’d priced it at £90 with the expectation that I’d get about £80. I’m all for a bit of negotiation etc, but COME ON!! Grin
