Weird question but does a wisdom tooth come in at one level?

Posting here for traffic,
So for the last 2 months or so maybe I have noticed that my upper left wisdom tooth is starting to come in.
It isn't that painful, but it flares up every 2-3 weeks or so.
The thing that's worrying me is that when I look at it in the mirror I can only see one cusp coming in. Is this normal or is it meant to come in all together IYSWIM??
Thanks, I have a serious dental phobia and haven't been able to go for over 3 years due to the fear.

Yes, that's normal as far as I can remember. They can break through one cusp at a time. DS, who's 21, agrees with me - he's got two cusps through on one of his wisdom teeth & they annoy him occasionally.

Yes they don't always come through evenly. You can get infection as it is hard to keep the area clean. If you clean your teeth at night, then froth with 20 % peroxide diluted 1:1 with water ( don't rinse), for a few nights, that should stop the gum infection. But if the tooth is impacting you might need it taken out. You should see a dentist who works with nervous patients. I have had an abscessed wisdom tooth and it is very painful! I understand your fear.

Thanks Drama, that reassured me quite a bit Smile
