I need urgent help TRIGGER WARNING graphic abortion description

Toystorypants · 05/07/2019 16:33

I don't know what to do.

Took the first tablet on Wednesday and then inserted a further four tablets as instructed at 2pm today and went for a lie down as instructed. I also took paracetamol, ibeprofen and dihydracodeine as well.

I fell asleep. It's been two and a half hours and I've had zero pain or anything.

I thought I would go to the toilet to see if anything was happening and when I took my bottoms down a huge clot the size of my hand splatted onto the floor. There was something in it so I looked at I'm certain it was two of the tablets. I panicked and cleaned up.

No I'm worried it isn't working. I have two more tablets I've been instructed to take at 6 pm if there isn't any bleeding, should I take them?! I'm not really bleeding, just that one large clot and there has been absolutely no pain at all.

Please help and be kind 😔

Sometimes it can take a while to work.

Take the other pills as instructed at 6 if nothing starts.

GreyAndGoldInTheMeadow · 05/07/2019 16:37

I dont know anything about this process but would advise calling the clinic that provided the abortion for their advice.

HomeEdRocks18 · 05/07/2019 16:39

You should call your doctor back or get in contact with a Marie stopes clinic just to be sure everything that's happening is supposed to. X
I didn't take the tablets as was too far along.
Maybe have a bath

Ambydex · 05/07/2019 16:39

Do you not have a number to phone from the clinic?

I mean this kindly, but you really shouldn't be reduced to asking the advice of strangers on the internet on this one. You need proper medical advice from people whose knowledge is verifiable. If they've just dispatched you with tablets and no one to call that's just awful. Ring 111 or your GP if no other option. I don't want to be unhelpful but I think you really need and deserve proper advice. I wish you all the best.

Miljah · 05/07/2019 16:40

I'd give the clinic a ring, too.

Spookydot · 05/07/2019 16:41

How many weeks were you?

Toystorypants · 05/07/2019 16:45

I was 6 weeks. More clots in the toilet just now but I had one when I was 18 and there was blood everywhere and I was in agony, this is just clots coming out but no regular flow of blood?

I do have a number to call i need to go and find the information book

OP posts:
Reallynowdear · 05/07/2019 16:48

Please call the clinic, hope you're ok.

Spookydot · 05/07/2019 16:49

Maybe just give them a call to put your mind at rest. It might get going soon.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 05/07/2019 16:51

Graphic info below alert-
Did they advise you to check the clots or anything you were passing, I used to work on a gynae ward and when people were having mtops or medical management of
miscarriage we checked every bed pan for any tissue, or the sac/embryo. Sometimes the partly dissolved tablets did come out too but that's not unusual. Some clots can look massive but they are just clots, any tissue or "products of conception" are thicker and don't break down as easily.

EllebellyBeeblebrox · 05/07/2019 16:53

People are all different too, not always just loads of continuous bleeding. Same as with the pain, some people didn't have any pain, others it was really difficult to manage. They should certainly have given you a number to call for advice though so best to give them a ring. Keeping gently mobile and walking about can speed things along too. Thanks

Toystorypants · 05/07/2019 16:53

There was no answer so I've left a message asking to call me back.

I wasn't advised to check, just that there's a small chance I might see the "pregnancy tissue coming away" as per the information book.

I'm so worried it hasn't worked properly

WorraLiberty · 05/07/2019 16:53

OP in the nicest possible way, find the number and information book and use that, not an internet forum.

If not, find another relevant number to phone even if it's just 111 and they may be able to pass a number on to you.

Good luck Thanks

WorraLiberty · 05/07/2019 16:54

X posted but if they don't call back soon, find another number for advice.

Toystorypants · 05/07/2019 17:41

I finally got a hold of someone. They said as long as the tablets were inside the vagina for at least an hour it doesn't matter if they have come out as you will have absorbed all the medicine however since there is no regular flow of blood and just clots to take the other two tableta under my tongue just in case everything hasn't come out.

My back has started getting a bit sore now so I've topped up the painkillers and sitting with the tablets under my tongue now.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply.

Well done. Take care.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 05/07/2019 18:45

Flowers op. Glad the tablets seem to be working.
Best of luck tonight.

S1naidSucks · 05/07/2019 18:48

Thinking of you, OP. 💐

Inferiorbeing · 05/07/2019 18:48

This happened to me and I panicked so so much, it all came away eventually around 9pm (I took the tablets at 2) Flowers

Toystorypants · 05/07/2019 22:07

This is why mumsnet is great sometimes!

I took the last two tablets as advised and they've made my mouth really sore. Still not much pain but I'm guessing the dihydracodeine is pretty strong? Still passing clots as well but not as big. Hoping to fall asleep soon and put this mess behind me.

Hope everyone is having a nice evening.

OP posts:
Spookydot · 05/07/2019 22:13

Hopefully the dihydracodeine will stop you feeling too much pain, and you can get though this tricky time. Get lots of rest and be kind to yourself. Flowers

Yawninfinitum · 05/07/2019 22:17

Hang in there OP it’s an anxiety inducing situation being the person having to make medical type decisions and cope alone with the procedure.

I know medical TOP has it’s plus points but I do worry about the stress on women from this side when we leave them to
Cope alone. Glad the clinic called you back tho.

Rest well. All over soon.

Onceuponacheesecake · 05/07/2019 22:21

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 05/07/2019 22:23

Every pregnancy is different OP and as such every loss is different too. Try not to worry, it's good that you're not in too much pain. I hope you get a good nights sleep Thanks
