Came downstairs this morning carrying 3 week old baby in my arms and had 5 year old with me. Made the baby a bottle and myself a coffee and left my retainers (clear gumshield style) on the kitchen counter so I could drink my coffee.
Fed the baby, meanwhile 5 year old made his breakfast - toast, cereal and a glass of juice. Went to make my own breakfast an hour later and one of the retainers is gone, the other is still there. Can't find it anywhere. I've checked the whole kitchen including the cereal box, the packet of bread, the fridge and emptied the recycling bin as ds had the last of the juice and threw the carton away. It likely got caught up with something but I've turned the kitchen upside down and can't find it. Where could it be?

Fridge, bread bin, cupboard, drawer? Could it have been knocked off on to the floor?

Do you have a dog?

NoSauce · 04/07/2019 13:03

Dressing gown pocket?

poorbuthappy · 04/07/2019 13:04

My answer depends on whether you have a dog.

Yeahnahmum · 04/07/2019 13:13

I don't care

SpoonBlender · 04/07/2019 13:13

Or a cat. They'll make off with that sort of thing too.

Dancer12345 · 04/07/2019 13:14

Cutlery drawer?

SpoonBlender · 04/07/2019 13:14

NoSauce After a lifetime of losing things, I finally nailed into my head that 'dressing gown pocket' is the right place to look. After I lost my passport which I'd used to check in or something then left there, and spending eight hours turning the house over before going to the airport.

Dishwasher
Sink

Steriliser

NoSauce · 04/07/2019 13:45

Me too Spoon Grin it’s surprising how much stuff you can fit it such a small pocket.

SushiTime · 04/07/2019 13:46

My bets on the 5yoGrin

DontCallMeShitley · 04/07/2019 13:46

Tea towel?
Have you checked in bits of used kitchen roll?
Bottom of plate/bowl etc. and into sink or dishwasher or under cereal box.
Behind something on worktop, under toaster.

LittleMissNaice · 04/07/2019 13:47

Three week old baby fog? Have you checked it's not in your mouth? Wink

ISmellBabies · 04/07/2019 13:49

In the toaster?
Give the other retainer to the 5yo and watch where they put that one?

Cornettoninja · 04/07/2019 13:50

Have you re-enacted your movements? I have to mime through my motions rather than go and look at a specific spot.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 04/07/2019 13:54

Off topic but your 5 year old makes toast and cereal? How can he reach? I have a ds and I need this to start happening Smile

Backstabbath · 04/07/2019 14:07

5 yr old making toast, cereal and juice. Fuck me I need to send my 11yr old twins to you for training

SweetAsSpice · 04/07/2019 14:10

I did this. Was in the pocket of my pj’s, had put them in without thinking amidst the morning chaos. Hope they turn up!

TransFannyUltrasound · 04/07/2019 14:13

You haven’t mentioned the household waste bin. It’s in there.
