To cut my own hair?

Does anyone actually do this? I have medium length, straight hair and I loath going to the hairdresser. I end up going to one of those ‘no appointment’ required places where you just wait your turn because I don’t plan ahead and have to be in the right frame of mind to go but even then I hate it. Does anyone cut their own hair? Have you got any tips? I imagine that straight hair is harder to change to cut yourself (to get it straight).

Google the Mumsnet haircut. It works pretty well.

I get DH to trim mine. Just half an inch off all round. If you get some good quality scissors and use two mirrors to see the back you'll be fine.

Yes.
I used to do the bobble thing twice a year, and then each summer come home and get it cut in the uk.

But I rarely wear my hair down, so the home haircuts were more about keeping control of the ends that making it look beautiful.

It was always healthier after a hairdresser had cut it.
