to expect a letter posted this morning -first class- to arrive by Monday ?

The lady in the post office asked whether it was urgent - as it might not be delivered until after Monday - well, no - but I thought that first class meant it had a chance of getting to it's destination next day and certainly by Monday ?!

I thought it should arive tommorrow not monday

at the mo RM have strikes on from weds of this week for 2 weeks apparenlty delays are to be expected

she didn't mention strikes,which I'd forgotten about...

She just means that they can't guarantee that it will be there within one working day unless you pay out for special delivery.

They have started asking this question at our post office too - just trying to get more people to pay for other forms of delivery, I think!

Sorting offices are strike at a different time to postmen. I also think different areas of the country are striking at different times.

I think the aim is to have someone striking at all times over the 2 weeks rather than everyone striking for 2 whole weeks IYSWIM.

I think the aim is a generalised disruption.
