To freak out at finding a tick on my DS!

Horrible, vile thing. We went for a walk yesterday and this morning while applying sum cream I found a little tick tucked inside 5 year old DS's ear! Removed safely but now worried about Lyme disease.... Also, can anyone recommend a tick repellent for kids?

If you have found it and removed it then it’ll be fine, it’s a problem when it’s been there for a while. No repellent’s work in my experience just keep checking in the evening at this time of year

Try not to worry. Usually Lyme disease takes quite a long time to transmit and it needs to be the bigger ticks. If I remember correctly, it's only after they have been attached for 48 hours or longer. As long as you do a thorough check after any walks in woods or long grass, and then double check again the following day, you should be fine.

Highly recommend the tick twister tool. We have multiple ones stashed in the house/car/my bag, etc. as we get a lot of ticks.

Thanks for the reassurance. I borrowed the neighbours tick remover (they have dogs) so removed it ok. Was a bit fiddly because of where it was. It can't have been on there longer than about 14hrs and it was tiny so hopefully will be ok.
