AIBU?

To think that flouncers on MN are just arrogant f*ckwitages who ought to bloody grow up?

If you don't like what's in a thread, don't post on it. There are lots of others.

By flouncing you are just showing that you are needy. Why not just post: 'ooh please beg me not to leave and say how much you'll miss me' instead?

Not every bloody thing in the world is about you. Honestly, sometimes people just have different opinions. It's something grown ups do.

For me, the only response to a threat to flounce is: 'don't let the door hit you on the way out'.

Flouncers, you are only just slightly better than pretend flouncers who threaten to leave and then 'decide to stay' later on in the thread. I have scorn for you both but I will actually mock the latter mercilously every time I see your subsequent posts.

Consider yourselves berated.

I just got a Facebook account and I'm still trying to see why I should care.

Personally I think if you want to set up a clique - set up a wiki and keep it cliquey (FYI F&Z that was not directed at you - just a general life observation).

I have several wikis related to RL and they are serious and real and respectful.

BTW I apologise for the amelioration line, that sounds like a tosspot comment even to me!

My favourite flouncers are the one who have only been here for a short time.

Indeed

I am just saying (and I kind of agree with you about flouncing , a bit) - don't underestimate the reality of MN. It isn't just words on a screen. I've got 3 cards sitting here on my window sill that MNers have sent me in the past week or so, one MNer is coming to visit me next week, I am going on holiday with another next month. MN and RL are not mutually exclusive.

The real world - challenging the MN generation since 2000

Now I've lobbed that into the thread, I'm going to bugger off to feed DD and then to bed. Note, going to bed, not flouncing, I'll be back.

No, no one is allowed flounce, it is ridiculous 99.9 per cent of the time. It is particularly ridiculous when someone who has no real relationship with anyone else on the site takes offense and announces they will no longer be visiting

I don't really know anyone that well on MN, and certainly have never felt the need to flounce (nobody would notice anyway) but you can see from some of the threads on here just what a lifeline MN is for some people.

I do use another forum (vv small in comparison) where I have made some fantastic friends online, and some have sneaked into my RL and are as important as friends I have had for years.

Sometimes things said on here can really really hurt. Yes, perhaps people should ignore it and switch the computer off if they get that upset about something on here, BUT if it's a bit of a lifeline for you, then that can be hard to do.
