Why are people so bitchy in the workplace?

So feeling a bit down today, there has been a frosty atsmophere in work the past couple of months in an office of 6 women ranging from 28- 45.

Two of the youngest ones love a good gossip and like to cast personal opinions on other people that are not always positive.. well now their attention has been drawn to me.. they will talk to everyone apart from me and when I try and talk to them they look away and go quiet, unless there is a work need for a response..

I'm on the verge of giving up.. I worked from home yesterday ( these two girls have done this in the past also) after approving it with our md.. i thought they would comment on this based on how they have been with me ...one of my friends in the office on the day said that the two girls went out to get a brew that took 20 min...( they don't work in the same department) then straight after one of the girls took the new junior and had a word with her in the private office..normally work related stuff is said in the office and they have never gone in their before.

I've got a feeling it's linked to my previous post.. I try not to be paranoid and take who cares about what they think approach but it still hurts Sad I'll keep trying with my killing with kindness approach.. I suppose I am different as I never bad mouth someone behind their back and go with a IF IT does need to be said say it to their face approach, otherwise keep quiet.

This is tough OP

Are there other people you can befriend at work, maybe in a different department? You could then have lunches etc with other people and ignore these people

I don’t know about your baby previous post

We can’t gel with everyone but they shouldn’t be making you feel bad

This sounds toxic and like something I'm similarly experiencing. I hope there's a resolution in sight. Flowers
