OK, I'm an old fogey and still back in the days when valance sheets were how you covered your bed if it looked a bit grotty. Apparently this is now terribly old-fashioned, and I don't have any, anyway.

Now trying to sell my Mum's house, have taken most of the dated furniture out but would like to leave the beds to give a better idea of the size of the bedrooms.

What's a modern-looking (and preferably very cheap) way to hide the fact that your bed is awful? I'm not buying new beds, as they'll be going to the tip afterwards.

And what should a modern bed look like to be attractive?

Please add some photos of your bed for inspiration!
Thanks.

How about a large, cheap throw that reaches to the floor, and some matching cushions? An inordinate number of cushions seems to be a thing just now. With sequins.

However, I’m currently sitting on a divan bed scratched to buggery by cats so not the best person to be offering advice.

Bigger duvet than the size of bed hides the sides I.e superking duvet on a double bed. And then throws to hide the ends.

Nice cushions. Primark is your friend.

Dunelm has a good sale on at the moment up to 50% off.

Yes this. With plain covers.
Although anyone who refuses to buy a house based on the actual beds present is an idiot!

@Bottledate anyone who refuses to buy a house based on the actual beds present is an idiot! I know... I just want to hide them out of shame! I thought it might look like the house is filthy.

If it's a divan could you do a quick cover up job with some cheap fabric and a staple gun?

FlamedToACrisp · 23/06/2019 22:32

Ooh good thinking @AuntieJuice

You can get more modern looking covers for divan bases these days, with straight edges and folded corners, instead of the old fashioned gathered look. That might be the cheapest option?

Darkcloudsandsunnydays · 23/06/2019 22:46

I would just leave it as it is to best show what you are actually selling.

GibbonLover · 24/06/2019 00:07

How bad are the beds?
Post a pic.
