All I've asked him to do is to get his own sandwich for lunch. Surely this is reasonable? He won't get off his XBox.

Really fed up because then I get the usual threats of "My dad makes me my lunch when I'm with him. I'll go and live with my dad more. You're a cruel mum" etc etc....

Leave him to go hungry and ignore the moaning. He can make a sandwhich if he gets hungry.

MotherTime3 · 22/06/2019 12:56

I don’t think it’s unreasonable, but I wouldn’t engage in conversation about it. He knows where the food isn’t if he’s is hungry.

InTheHeatofLisbon · 22/06/2019 12:56

Don't make the sandwich. He's manipulating you. I'd get a suitcase out and say "on you go then".

See how fast he backs down.
I've done this, when threatened with "well I'll go and live with my dad then."

Twice. Because he's never said it since.

I wouldn’t get into an argument about it. If he’s hungry he’ll make the sandwich. I’ve just had the same argument with my 12yr old about making him a drink while he was watching YouTube and eating Doritos Hmm

Aprillygirl · 22/06/2019 13:17

He's manipulating you. Ignore him, he'll make his sandwich when he's hungry enough.

justilou1 · 22/06/2019 13:22

Unplug the bloody thing.

recrudescence · 22/06/2019 13:53

Cheerio son!

IsabellaLinton · 22/06/2019 13:56

How manipulative. Don’t engage. If he doesn’t want to make himself a sandwich then he can go without. Any more cheek, unplug the Xbox. If he threatens to go back to dad’s, call his bluff and offer to make him a snack for the trip.
