WIBU to ask them to bring their own sheets?

SIL and her two DC come to visit and stay a few days quite frequently. Dniece has recently developed a pretty heavy fake tan habit, and the last time they were here, fake tan was left all over her bedding and towel.

WIBU to ask SIL to bring a set for DN so she doesn’t use ours?

I’m normally really hospitable (and they come to stay several times a year).

Yanbu.

I would.

Di11y · 21/06/2019 19:34

yanbu

Jarjarblinks · 21/06/2019 19:35

Or just use the same ones she turned orange last time?! Unless the tan washed out fine in which case what is the problem?

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 21/06/2019 19:35

Can she not use the last set?

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 21/06/2019 19:35

Great minds JJ!

PianoTuner567 · 21/06/2019 19:35

If SIL is a reasonable person, then she should understand and be fine with that.

If she might take offence, I’d buy the cheapest set of bedding I could find (Primark? charity shop?) and keep those for when DN comes to stay.

WindsweptEgret · 21/06/2019 19:35

If they are coming several times a year I would just buy a set of dark coloured sheets and a towel for her use only.

TowelNumber42 · 21/06/2019 19:36

If one set of bedding and towel is already ruined why not keep that to one side for niece?

That aside, I would have no issue talking to my sister about it.

KarmaStar · 21/06/2019 19:36

Hi,
I would contact sil and explain.
Ask her to stop her dd from using the game ran or to bring own bedding and towel.
There is no harm in that.
Good luck.

KarmaStar · 21/06/2019 19:37

Game ran??😀
Fake tan!
Sorry,typo.

2strands · 21/06/2019 19:41

Use Milton and hang outside. The tan will lift out. Keep these specific sheets for your niece.

honeygirlz · 21/06/2019 19:44

Do you even want them staying over so often? do they reciprocate? Are they even apologetic for marking your sheets?

Morticiaismystyleicon · 21/06/2019 20:10

I've been using fake tan for years and I'm also a user of vegetable unnatural coloured hair dyes which stain everything in sight like mad and I've never had a stain which doesn't wash out at 60c. Fake tan has never lasted more than one 40c wash, is it actually staining it or is it the mess you're bothered by? If it's staining I don't know what on Earth she's using, perhaps buy a cheap towel and bedding set for her use? Assuming you like them and want them to stay of course, if they're intruding and inviting themselves ask them to bring it!

Rainatnight · 21/06/2019 20:42

Thanks all.

Yes, I think it’s more the mess I’m bothered by. And have a specific set of cheap bedding is so exactly the obvious solution. I think I didn’t think of it cos I was so cross, and yes, for those who’ve asked, I think it probably is bound up with me not wanting them here so (fucking) often, as well as a slightly blasé attitude to the mess.

I'd have thought the fake tan would wash out of the sheets.
