Bad luck or just tosh?!

Currently in the middle of moving home with all going well the keys being handed over to us tomorrow. DM is convinced that it will be the worst thing ever to move on a Friday. I'm a little confused as our first night sleeping there is most likely going to be mid next week. So in my mind our moving in day will be Wednesday/Thursday.

Is it a load of rubbish or should we hold out til next week?

Eh? The vast majority of house sales complete on a Friday so what's the issue?

What's wrong with moving to a new home on a Friday?
It means you have the weekend to sort a few things out. Sounds ideal to me.

Are you buying? If so, occasionally it being a Friday can be a pain if things don't go quite to plan but not worth worrying about.

Most people move on a Friday so as to have the weekend to sort things out without having to take days off work.

In any chain, only the FTB at the bottom of the chain (who van hang onto the rented flat for a few days) and whoever is selling at the top of the chain (as they can leave early) will have much flexibility as obviously if you are mid chain you have to all actually move on the day of completion. So most chains will pick a Friday.

If you have the option to stay in rented a few more days and have the annual leave to not need to do the work at the weekend then sure, why not?

The only superstition I ever heard of ( and it was very common when I was young) was the saying "Saturday flit's a short sit" i.e. if you move that day you'll be moving out again shortly. Never stopped me moving on that day lol.

We moved to this house on a Saturday. We have been here 18 years 🙂
