To ask why I’m getting phone calls from foreign numbers

Bit of an odd one, this.

Today, I’ve had 4 calls on my mobile from callers in different countries - Australia, Cyprus, Poland and Latvia - all of whom are saying they’ve had a missed call from my mobile no.

I picked up the first call from Australia and a woman spoke and said that she had a missed call from my mobile. I said sorry, but I’d not called her, and thought no more of it.
I then had another call from a Cyprus number. The voice was Russian, he gave his name and said that he’d had a missed call from my no.

I’ve had my mobile no since the 90s and there are no spikes in my phone bill.
I don’t know these individual tel no’s and I have no reason to call these countries.

Have I somehow been hacked? I can’t think why this is happening.
I give no personal, identifying info on answering my phone.

Scammers copy random phone numbers to call people so the number looks legit. I've had missed calls on my landline which look like they have my area code but it's actually a dodgy call centre. It's why you don't give out private info even if the call looks like it came from your bank. Your phone hasn't been hacked.

I'm in Australia and have been getting calls from Latvia and Azerbaijan. I don't answer them.

I’m in Canada. I used to get scam callers on my landline but as we didn’t answer, they eventually trickled to almost nothing.

I had a period with calls to my mobile. I use my mobile for business, primarily. Apparently if you answer, they somehow can get your number to make international calls. Each time I received a call, I blocked the number. I now don’t get any.

I still receive a few phishing texts. I used to text F**k off back. One person even texted back to apologize. Now, I just automatically block those text numbers as well, and I rarely receive texts.
