Hello, so this isn't a long one but quite a worrying one.
so basically I went on holiday last month with a friend (female not that that matters) and left my partner and DS at home, when I came back from my holiday we had ex alot. Fast forward to this month and I'm now over a week late for my period, I have the minera (or however you spell it) coil fitted but I'm usually regular as clock work.
So what I'm wondering has anyone actually ever fallen pregnant on the coil?
I know its very unlikely but I'm just getting a bit worried.
Also I should mention even when I was pregnant before this never showed up on a regular pee test.

Sorry its very tmi.

I'm not sure of the relevance of the holiday to this, but if you're a week late, there's always a chance, however small. Have you taken a test? That would be the first thing to do.

I became pregnant whilst on the Mirena coil. Do a test to put your mind at ease.

qj17 · 20/06/2019 13:53

I know someone who Got pregnant twice on the mirena so it can happen.

Whistle73 · 20/06/2019 13:53

I know two people who got pregnant on mirena. Definitely test.

I’m also confused about the significance of the holiday. It’s unlikely, but you could be pregnant. Likelihood is is that you’re just late or even skipping a period. It happens. MN can’t tell you if you’re pregnant or not though, so use a test and put your mind at ease.

Of course you could be pregnant. No contraception is 100% apart from abstinence!!

Zbag · 20/06/2019 13:57

Is this real? You had sex.. Of course you could be pregnant!

werideatdawn · 20/06/2019 13:58

Ah, the weekly could I be pregnant thread.

FaithInfinity · 20/06/2019 14:03

‘Periods’ aren’t actually periods on the Mirena. Periods only occur after ovulation which shouldn’t be happening with the Mirena. No contraception is 100% effective. If it’s been a month since you had the sex, a pregnancy test would probably give you an accurate result so yes, do a test.

I've known people get pregnant with the coil. If you don't trust the at home test then go to the go asap. If you leave it too late they won't be able to safely remove the coil and you will have a difficult pregnancy.

Relevance of holiday possibly because travel can affect cycles?

mintich · 20/06/2019 14:42

I read this as she had sex with her female friend lots on holiday and was worried she was pregnant. 😂 I was very confused!
