I know it's not an AIBU, but posting for traffic:
Next April, my wife celebrates a significant birthday, it's our significant wedding anniversary, and our daughters 4th birthday, all within a few days. We want to go away somewhere that'll be lovely for all of us.
Maximum budget £3500 (I know it's not loads but I'm sure we could still have a decent break)

Where would you go and what would you do?

Planning is down to me, and I can't decide whether to go for an fortnight AI in the sun to relax, or go on an adventure...

Please inspire me?

Rome, Naples, Sorrento, Capri are all beautiful in April. You could do a little road trip.

Or something fun like Disneyland Paris but weather will be iffy in Aptil.

Or a cruise? You could do a medical cruise. Some ports lovely in April.

Obviously not a medical cruise - although that could be interesting Grin. Mediterranean!

I think the trick to taking a small child on holiday and everyone having a lovely time, is to go somewhere that the child will enjoy. If the child is happy, everyone will be happy.

I'd look at somewhere like Lanzarote or Tenerife, the flights aren't too long, the weather will be warm but not overpoweringly hot, and there will be a range of hotels and deals to choose from.

Easter in 2020 is 12th April, so bear that in mind when booking, as you might get a better deal slightly after that date. Also a lot of resorts only open fully from Easter onwards.

@BooksAreMyOnlyFriends Grin Too funny

Touring Italy by train. Won’t be too hot for DD either going in April

mineofuselessinformation · 19/06/2019 22:08

Look into a cruise somewhere warm that time of year.
There will be things for DD to do onboard while you and DW relax, plus places to hop off if you feel like it.

I wouldn't do beach (too boring) ... I'd go for ADVENTURE! Like a villa type holiday (fly and drive) Italy, France, Germany or Northern Spain would give you landscape, coastal towns and cities to explore with a hint of adventure. The villa would ensure that you have to base in case your 4year old needs a break!

I'd go to Lanzarote and stay in the Princess Yaiza in Playa Blanca.
Then do some trips out eg Rancho Texas, ride a camel, go up Timanfaya. yellow submarine.

We first took the DDs when youngest was 4 and it worked well.
