AIBU in buying a DFS sofa online without viewing in store?

Sofa I like is on sale (still expensive though) and they don’t have any in stock near me - nowhere near me.

Anyone know what the returns process is like with DFS if needed?

Is this a bad idea?

We’ve bought 2 sofas from DFS (one leather and one fabric) after only seeing them online. We literally saw that the sale’s on, went online, looked up price/colour/shape combination and put the order. They both were fine. It was about 9 years ago. We got rid of fabric one recently but it’s because we moved and didn’t need it any more.

What sofa is it? I bought one a few years ago in store - but is now only available online.

If it’s your main sofa in your living room I wouldn’t. A conservatory cheap-ish used occasionally yes. You have no idea if it’ll be comfortable, so I wouldn’t risk it. Dfs are difficult to return to (experience of a friend not me). If it was somewhere like Argos who have no problem with returns after you’ve accepted delivery I’d say go for it though.

We do have a DFS sofa though, I went in and tried it in store though and paid the extra for the firm cushions so it’s still looking good 3 years on. Their delivery charges are ridiculous though £69!

It’s the palladium sofa from the iconica range in leather - does any one have have experience of that one?

I do...I used to work there. Very soft seat and leather. I loved it. But a lot to spend on something you dont know whether you like. The back is very low

I would try first. When I was sofa shopping I saw some online at DFS that looked nice enough, but when I called in and sat on them, they were uncomfortable as hell.

I did end up buying a sofa online based on a photograph, but it was from a small company called James and Rose. Huge choice of styles and fabrics, and proper high quality upholstery. Not that much more money than DFS, but huge difference in quality. Best sofa I’ve ever had.

Consumer Contract regulations only apply to your order if the goods have not been custom made to your specification or if you have not examined the product in one of our showrooms. If the Consumer Contract Regulations do apply you can cancel your furniture by notifying us, in writing, before delivery or within 14 working days beginning with the day after the date of delivery. This is from their website hope it helps.

Be aware though that they won’t refund delivery charges and will charge you again for collection, so you could end up significantly out of pocket for nothing.

Ours are DFS. Bought unseen as limited edition so none in stock. Luckily it paid off and I like them even more than I expected. But no returns and measure entrances and doorways meticulously so you know it'll fit!

Hi... did you decide to purchase the Palladium sofa from DFS? If you did, were you happy with it? Is it comfy? I've been looking at the same one, but can't find any reviews on it....
