To ask for advice on buying a new mobile phone?

Totally overwhelmed by this. All I want is a cheaper smart phone that I can also use as a sat nav, so has to have good coverage.

i would get a second hand iphone 6 from cex. they are reliable and the iphone 6 does all that you want it to x

How much do you want to spend? Don't get an old iPhone. They don't even make them anymore, anything older than a 7 is old stock and you never know with apple whether the older phones will support software updates.
I'd look at the A range samsungs for a mid range handset, or the J range for a low range but will do everything you need handset.
Huawei are awesome too but not sure what will happen going forward what will happen with Google etc although they do assure us it will be fine.

The coverage for your sat nav is down to the network you choose, not your handset by the way. You can check out the best coverage in your area on the Ofcom coverage checker .

I've got an iPhone Xmax after upgrading from an 8plus. It's a great phone, requires very little tech knowledge and apple products seem to always last well in our house. I use it as a sat nav most weeks when ferrying the DC about and it's never let me down.

I'm on Vodafone and their coverage has always been fab, too.

Samsung is great imo. Me and kids had the J5 and still going strong after a few years Got an S8 now .

Look at Xiaomi or Oneplus

I recommend Samsung also. I have s7 , I bought it refurbished from music magpie.
