Not had cooker for 4 weeks. Being connected now. What shall I cook first?

House move meant I had to get rid of my (too) large range cooker and buy a new one instead.
After mess up with delivery, it has taken nearly 4 weeks to get to this point.
Have survived on sandwiches and the odd slow cooked casserole.
Daughter has had a lot of takeaways.
So, am off to the supermarket as soon as plumber leaves.
What shall I cook to celebrate. It is just the 2 of us in the house.
All ideas gratefully received.

I dont know how to make parkin but my new local shop sells pudding rice, which I haven't seen in years.
Bought some of that whilst ingratiating myself with the locals.
That is tomorrow's pudding sorted

Chicken today, cake tomorrow. Cake is an excellent way of checking your oven is working evenly so its a job you just have to do.

Disaster! Lovely plumber has been here hours to plumb in my cooker washing machine and dishwasher.
To date we have found:
The brand new gas cooker (which came with a plug) has to be hardwired into socket, and the socket is not there
Dishwasher has had plug cut off (movers must have done this as old dishwasher) and I do not have a spare plug in the house.
He is working on washing machine now and swearing gently under his breath.
No roast dinner for me
Gutted.
Its a lovely house, but it is lacking a few mod cons

If its just two of you then toad in the hole. My oven was broken for a couple of months and my first meal in the new one was a roast.

I'd be doing a fry up - sausages in the oven, bacon under the grill, eggs on the hob!

Take a plug off something else that you are not using today, hairdryer, lamp, food mixer for example,
