I have seen this a few times on Facebook today. Am I the only one that thinks this is totally disgusting. They seem to think swapping it so a vegan etc would be eating meat. That in its self is awful

But I have so many allergies. If I ate something thinking it didn’t contain something. I can be very very ill. This is not funny at all !!!!!!! And can be very very dangerous.

I've seen it too. I hope it's someone's idea of a funny joke, and they didn't actually do it.

Does make you think about how packaging for vegan/allergy products need to be made tamper proof though.

I agree. Just trying to insert the brain behind thinking this would be funny. I will be double checking all my food now

Allergen info etc is still printed on the plastic covering the food. But still a shitty thing to do - someone could easily miss it.

30not13 · 17/06/2019 16:29

I've not seen that before vice?

KnittingSister · 17/06/2019 16:37

Even if the original Facebook poster didn't actually do this, someone will think it's funny and copy it. It could have serious consequences.

Horrendous and hateful! I am so fed up with seeing aggression towards vegetarians and vegans. There might be some preachy types but most people just live their respective lifestyles. This is a complete violation and for me represents criminal behaviour. And besides that, many people do carefully study the packaging for ingredients and rely on it. The writing on the plastic film is often illegible. I cook virtually all my food from scratch but sometimes when out and about I have to resort to buying premade stuff and do really rely on the label. A (former) mate pushed one of her healthy shakes on me while staying with her. She often does weird detoxing stuff but smokes and drinks though. I asked her what she put in it and she reeled off all the vegetables she used and assured me it was all natural and safe. I really did not fancy the shake but she really pushed me and made me feel like I was being rude after she had gone to the trouble for preparing it. Within half an hour, my terrified DH had to call a paramedic and then the ambulance blue-lighted me to hospital because she omitted the blue algae added. Again, and again, I observe that people have a very cavalier and dismissive attitude towards people who either have health or ethical reasons for avoiding foods. It is not funny or clever, actually, it is abusive.

RedWineAllMine · 17/06/2019 16:51

How incredibly immature. What can this person possibly gain from doing this?

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 17/06/2019 16:58

I was horrified by this. People who read the sleeves for allergens or because they want veggie food are at risk (allergies) and made a mockery of (veggies/vegans). Someone could get ill and then it won't be funny at all.

We had someone at uni who used to like loosening salt & pepper shakers to ruin your food/make you sneeze etc. This is the type of "funny" prank I can see her progressing to. Angry

Hopefully the manufacturers see this and can change packaging to make it more tamper proof.

coolestmum · 17/06/2019 17:00

I saw this on a post recently and just thought how childish. I hadn't even thought about people with allergies. That takes it to a different level entirely and actually is a very dangerous thing to do.

HolesinTheSoles · 17/06/2019 17:00

What an absolute twat (even if they were just joking they're a twat if they actually did it they're a dangerous twat).

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 17/06/2019 17:57

Yup. I agree with all ur comments. It’s not funny. And it’s not clever and could leave someone like myself in hospital.
