AIBU to want to return a 'whistling' iron?

I bought a new iron yesterday after my old one died. I used it this morning and discovered it makes an annoying whistling sound when you lift it upright after ironing. Every single time. It sounds like there is a budgie living in it and is bloody irritating, especially as i like to iron in front of the TV. In every other way it is great.

Do you think i could/should return it? Would they allow me to return it for this? AIBU or not?

Isn’t it just the steam escaping?

Apolloanddaphne · 16/06/2019 11:15

It is the steam escaping but it is a loud , piercing whistle rather than a hiss. I have been ironing for many years with a variety of irons and none have made this noise.

@mycatismeowican You are welcome to it!
