My DS aged 27 has had a shit 2 years, really fucking shit. Illness, redundancy, more illness.

We've had a dreadful week, last night the three of us, DH, Ds and me had a massive chat and melt down. We convinced him I think that his condition is not the end of the world despite being a. Very visual condition. Lots of tears but lots of thrashing out.

This evening he's watching tv in his room and he's actually

Laughed out loud.

It's a lovely sound.

Thank you, it's the best Father's Day present the DH could ask for. I know that's tomorrow but you get what I mean.

Talking it out probably relieved masses of tension for him. Hugs to you all, it sounds very hard.

toriathet · 15/06/2019 23:36

when my 13 y old finally got over a 3 and half year nervous/mental breakdown caused by school and was also agoraphobic, when he started laughing it i knew he was on the road to recovery.still took another 9 months but it was a start

i didnt hear him laugh in a least 3 years prior

justsmileboy · 15/06/2019 23:37

I absolutely am smiling.

Family life can throw even the strongest of units, curve balls, that can cut the legs from under you.

Your family sound like great survivors.

The very best of luck, especially to your darling son.

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2019 23:57

Ohyesiam · 15/06/2019 23:58
