Hi, I probably wont be able to stay in the area where I live at the moment due to divorce, so am looking to relocate. We're quite lucky, in that we live in a fairly expensive part of the country, so buying outright (or with a small mortgage) is a distinct possibility in another part of the country. We're only restricted by the fact that I don't drive and that I am carer for my adult son who has a mental age of a toddler (who will be coming with me, of course). Having plenty for us to get involved with would be great. Of course, it would be great for my son to stay in contact with his dad. Any suggestions of areas to look at or sites to browse, would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

I've got a daughter with SEN and if I were thinking of relocating I'd be looking to see which areas the major charities relating to her disabilities had family centres or activity programmes running in. Some areas have fantastic centres that would provide a support network and a degree of respite. Once you've narrowed down choices I'd also suggest maybe trying yo finding SEN social media groups for that area to find out how helpful or not the L.A. is with social care support. A friend moved to a neighbouring county thinking provision couldn't be worse and had quite a shock and regretted the move hugely.

I'm in the SW and if you stay near railway connections and don't venture too far to the west you can get to major cities including London in fairly decent time.

If you would need to work wages can be low down here but suspect with the exception of places like Bristol (which I love but can't afford to live in) you'd notice a massive difference in property prices.
