Long story short moved 18 months ago, must have got a parking ticket near old address and never received the letter as I didn’t update vehicle log book to new address (I know v bad). Got a phone call from old estate agents saying a bailiff had gone round to old flat (!!) wanting it to be paid. Now owe a hideous £600 and am mortified upset and skint. I know it’s my own fault.
We will hopefully put on cc, pay it off and learn our lesson. But I’m worried this will reflect really badly on me for my credit score. I am otherwise fine- always pay cc off every month, ok income, no debt. Never missed a bill or mortgage payment. Does anyone have any idea how much effect this will have?
Please don’t tell me off for not updating log book I’m already so mad at myself. I had a newborn when we moved and the whole thing was overwhelming and never got round to it.
