To be disappointed in the HV's response? (NB, this is not a breastfeeding thread! LOL)

At the baby clinic I asked the HV if there was a way of passing on my soon-no-longer-to-be-needed sterilser to someone who needed one. I hesitated at that point, wanting to qualify it in the sense of someone disadvantaged, but I didn't want to sound patronising. She jumped in with "Yes, me." Good, I thought, she's the right contact, I don't need to expain further. Then she went on "I'll be looking after my grand-daughter from time to time when my daughter goes back to work."

That's not what I meant! There are loads of mums who can't afford basic kit.

Try contacting your local homestart and see if they will take it off your hands or local womens refuge?????

whomovedmychocolate · 24/07/2007 12:28

I would contact your local midwife unit and ask them instead, cheeky mare!

PrettyCandles · 24/07/2007 12:58

Thanks. Good ideas here.

(I thought maybe I was being a bit precious.)

Definitely not being precious - I'd have been cross too!

Also try your local Freecycle - someone will pop up in no time, I bet you.

Emprexia · 24/07/2007 13:22

Definitely join your local freecycle group, they're great for passing on bits and bobs you dont need anymore.

I found great homes for the Nappybin and Steam Steriliser i never used.

a charity shop? rather them than the HV.
