Please help me! Mirena fitted on Thursday...

Posting for traffic, apologies. I don’t know if I am being silly but I am starting to get worried. I had the Mirena coil fitted on Thursday. Since insertion I have felt a pressure in my vagina, similar to that of having a misplaced tampon or being full term and pressure inside. It’s constant. I am not in pain, just discomfort and I have no bleeding. What’s happening? Is this normal? It’s a horrid sensation. Thanks in advance.

Can you feel the strings?

Soontobe60 · 10/06/2019 21:33

I had this. Take a couple of paracetamol. It will pass.

Mine was like that for about a week. I felt like I was going to cough it out or something

It's 5 years since mine was fitted, but I don't remember anything like this.

I'd go back to clinic or see practice nurse tomorrow and ask if they could check everything is ok.

And are you all ok now Banana?

Totally normal. My doctor said they take 4-6 weeks to bed in... Mine was uncomfortable for about 3 weeks, haven't felt a twinge since... Or had a period!! Bear with it, they are awesome.

Mine did this. When I had a feel the strings were sticking out the end of my vagina. Waited until the six week check and had the strings trimmed as they hadn't curled up and it's fine now.

My doctor who fitted it was lovely and said I could leave a message at the surgery if I had any questions and she'd call me. Could you get a telephone appointment with your surgery if you don't want to go in?

Thanks all.
