They're not getting locked up at all, I'm afraid - suspended sentences. Apparently they haven't even been banned from keeping animals.

It's horrifying. I can't even imagine how you can pick up a defenceless baby animal and do that - and it was planned, too. I believe that people like that inherently pose a risk to other people, too - there has to be something dangerously wrong with them.

I think there's going to be a big public outcry about the case. I don't like vigilante action so I'm not encouraging/condoning it, but I think it's basically inevitable when they hand out sentences this derisory for something this appalling.

That's fox hunters for you. Vile bunch, and absolutely full of shit about countryside management.

I grew up in the middle of farmland where the farmer wouldn't allow the hunt. If there was a problem fox, he had a shotgun. Two of my most beloved pets were killed by foxes, so I'm under no illusion as to the ways of the countryside. I happen to have seen a lot more hideous damage on animals inflicted by lost fox hounds. Which, by the way, are absolutely lovely dogs, brutalised by the shitehawks who own them.

Absolute grade a bollocks that this has ever been about caring for livestock or the countryside.
