Does anyone live in Andalucia?

I have been thinking about moving abroad for a long time and I'm at a point in my life where the move would be good for me.

I'm thinking of settling on the Andalucian coast somewhere between Cadiz and Estepona. I have seen a few properties to rent, two bed apartments at around €1000, but this seems really high compared to what I pay in north west England. Do salaries reflect this? Any stories of peoples moves to Spain would be much appreciated Smile

What job do you intend to do? Can you speak Spanish at all?

I can speak fluent Spanish and intend to do office work. I've been guaranteed a job by a friend over there but I just need to weigh it all up before I take the plunge.

So what salary are you being offered? Consider other payments you will need to pay out and consider whether sharing is a possibilities to keep your costs down?

Following with interest as DH and I are looking to move over once he retires, to an area not far from Estepona.

How are you searching for properties? I had a quick look on Idealista (although that is a long stretch of coast so it'll vary depending on specific place) but found many things from 400€ a month upwards. 1000€ a month would be a good salary in Andalusia, as rent it would be unachievable for an average Spanish person.

I live in Andalusia, moved 3 years ago. That's a lot of rent, there's plenty of places available for that price but also places for much less. Idealista or local Facebook groups are a good place to look. Salaries here are generally lower than the UK but the cost of living over here is much lower than the UK so there is some balance. Being bilingual is valuable so make sure you find a job that pays well and gives you a proper contract. Best thing we ever did, moving out here, quality of life is wonderful, good luck!

Yes I live in the area you have mentioned just before estespona coming from Cadiz. A thousand a month does seem very expensive to me. For example I pay €550 per month for a 3 bed with a shared pool in a nice area. Wages are not as high in Spain have you considered commuting to Gibraltar ?. Also I found when looking on websites they left properties on there for years 🙈. I would recommend deciding roughly on the area you would like to be in and then finding some local Facebook groups and asking for available long term rentals on there. I love it here 😊
