My baby has just turned 11 weeks, she was diagnosed with acid reflux about 5 weeks ago. For the past 3 - 4 weeks she has been having 3 - 4 oz of formula every 3 - 3.5 hours and on average was having 20 - 24 oz a day. She would wake up in the night and have her full feed however for the past week she has been having almost 4oz as opposed to 3 and is going 4 hours between feeds. In the night she will go almost 4 - 5 hours without a feed and when she does drink she'll take 2 - 3 oz then stop completely and refuse to take anymore. I'm worried she is not drinking as much as she used to as she is going longer between feeds and not taking significantly more, I offer her 5 oz in the day but she does not take more than 4oz.

Is it normal for her to go so long in the night and only take a bit? She will wake up twice in the night for a feed. She normally has her last bottle and goes to sleep straight after and in the morning about 30 mins after being awake I give her a bottle.

Yes, it's normal for her to go this long at night, so don't worry. Babies of this age start to figure out how to sleep through the night, which should be encouraged.

As long as she has six wet nappies/24 hours and is gaining weight, then all is well.

I initially combi feed and have moved over to pretty much ebf however there were some concerns about DSs feeding very early on (severe tongue tie), they would always ask, is he having plenty of wet nappies? Is he alert when he is awake? Is he regularly falling asleep while feeding? Ideally you want a yes, yes, no

Thank you for your reply, is it normal for her to drink so less when she does get up for her night feedings? I try to tell myself that she knows how hungry she is and how much milk she needs to take but I can't help but worry if its too less

I think it sounds normal too. Could you take her to the health visitor to get weighed to make sure she's gaining weight. More to reassure you than anything else.

@Firsttimemomma DS started to cut down the amount of milk at night just before he started sleeping through around 12-13 weeks, as long as they are still gaining weight it sounds fine

They change all the time. One day they can have less than usual, others way more. Providing they seem their usual selves and have wet nappies, all is ok.
