Sorry I know AIBU for posting in AIBU, I never have any luck else where.

It was a brown hard back. I think it was a collection of short stories, possibly about the same character. One of the stories had the character, an older man I think, walking through a buttercup field and getting buttercup pollen on his clothes. I think the cover might have been him in the field.

I thought it was Enid Blyton but can't find anything similar by her. Any ideas?!

sounds like this

Helplessfeeling · 03/06/2019 20:03

It does sound like Enid Blyton, one of her pixie books perhaps?

fromsheffieldtobrighton · 03/06/2019 20:03

Is it Mr Twiddle by Enid Blyton. She wrote several books about him-mostly short stories. He was an older man and the joke was that he was always getting things mixed up...putting shoes in the larder and the fish in the shoe cupboard.

burblish · 03/06/2019 20:05

If it was an older man, it might have been Mr Pinkwhistle. Otherwise, sounds like the Adventures of Pip - I used to love that when I was tiny and I seem to remember a story in that book where Pip took a shortcut through the buttercup fields after his aunt told him not to, and was given away by the buttercup pollen on his head.

NaturWilde · 03/06/2019 20:06

Is it Flower Stories by Lenore E. Mulets?

tararabumdeay · 03/06/2019 20:06

Was it Mr Pinkwhistle? He went about putting unfair events right. On story, the only one I remember, was a little girl whose doll's face had been broken so somehow he got another doll and put it in her pram for her. It was always a chain of events that went full circle with the wrong being alright in the end.

NaturWilde · 03/06/2019 20:06

Oh, cross post with a pp!

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 03/06/2019 20:07

Could the story be Buttercup Magic, from Enid Blyton's Fifteenth Tell-a-Story Book?

I think it's Simple Simon Goes Shopping from the 6th or 7th Enid Blyton Holiday Book.
He walls through a field of butterxups and his feet get covered in pollen but he thinks it's custard powder??

cshelp · 03/06/2019 20:09

Thank you so much everyone!! Out of all your responses Mr Twiddle is ringing the most bells for me so I think I will try that first!

@HoHoHolyCow oh now that sounds very familiar! He didn't realise what it was and kept walking through the field?

HoHoHolyCow · 03/06/2019 20:12

Yes! I used to love that story!

cshelp · 03/06/2019 20:13

@HoHoHolyCow thank you! Off to track down a cover. I never realised how much she wrote??!!
