to wonder what this noise is?

It sounds like a bark but lasts about a second and is quite high pitched. Not a snappy bark. More drawn out. It's been going on for the past 10 minutes about every 4-10 seconds.

Fox maybe?

It's driving me nuts but I'm also curious to know what animal would make this noise. Sounds stressful the poor sod!

Does sound like a fox maybe but they're more screechy normally 🤫

wtfisthatnoise · 02/06/2019 23:33

That's what I thought. I hope whatever it is is ok and also hope it stops soon 🤪

I’d say a fox

They also sound disturbingly human sometimes

3luckystars · 02/06/2019 23:36

It's probably a mouse under the floorboards. They do that barky noise after their wife has given birth to more than 10 babies. It's a celebration noise. Every time you hear it, another has been born.
Congratulations.

wtfisthatnoise · 02/06/2019 23:36

It's very eery

Muntjac deer do a repetitive bark which is a very specific sound; it is usually a mother calling her young or a mating call, I think. We often hear it at night here

Passtherioja · 02/06/2019 23:36

I don't think it's stressed....it's more likely looking for a bit of Sunday night action!!

wtfisthatnoise · 02/06/2019 23:37

@3luckystars bloody loud mouse that is!

Ahh yes they are known as “barking deer” for a reason!

Aimily · 02/06/2019 23:46

@3luckystars I read that as moose to begin with and was wondering if you could get them in the UK and how you would fit it under the floorboards Blush

wtfisthatnoise · 02/06/2019 23:46

@Aimily 🤣🤣

StealthPolarBear · 02/06/2019 23:47

Can mice count? And do they celebrate?

wtfisthatnoise · 02/06/2019 23:48

@StealthPolarBear I'm going to go for no and no
