I'm just ranting

I bought DS the Tesco Mountain Railway set for his birthday. It has a mountain with a tunnel through it, lots of track, trees, farm animals and 2 trains. It looks great it really does and it fits his masses of wooden railway sets

But

2 points

One of the trains is too big to go through the tunnel. I've spent ages rebuilding the layout but, it's not me, the train is too tall

and

The second layout suggestion just cannot be done with the pieces provided. The bridge piece you put across the mountain is too wide to fit into the narrow gap I'm supposed to put it in.

OK, it's a small thing and DS has lots of other bits I can substitute to make it work but, what If DS wasn't a serial wooden train addict. If this was the only set you had, the design failings could be very disappointing.

OK, rant over, will invest in BRIO in future.

That's really crap. I've bought tesco train track too - it breaks really easily if dropped on the floor. Brio is so much better - shame it's so expensive.

Brio means I have to remortgage the house!

The tesco stuff is fairly durable But I have perfected the wood glue and temp masking tape repair technique) and on the whole I'm very happy with it but the design faults on this one is just sloppy.

I was lucky enough to inherit loads of brio for my ds. I'm waiting for nephews to pass it on to! Some of it must be 20+ years old. It's brilliant stuff.

It's fab stuff, there is so much play value in the wooden train sets (ASDA, ELC, Toysarus and Tesco included) DS has a huse IKEA hamper just full of yje stuff inc stations, bridges, docks, level crossings and a signal box.

I'm just dissapointed that the new set just doesn't live up to the rest of it

Any one else fancy having a rant about toy design then?
