Dad and I are going a cruise in a fortnight. I think he will have a good time but I would like some fun when he is having an early night. Is it possible to join up with other singles for a dance and drink? I know singles do socialise on ships but never been in this position before.
It’s P and O if that makes any difference????
All advice welcome. Not looking for man, just friends

Wonder if you’re going in the same cruise as my mum and my Nan! 😂 similar situation! Nan is 87 bless her and really looking forward to it. My mum also looking looking forward to it but has some slight reservations for similar reasons that you have posted above. I reckon there might be a few of you in the same situation that could get together for a few drinks etc.

FWIW it’s usually my Nan life and soul of party and my mum trying to get some rest! 😂

Hope you have a lovely time

There are solo traveller meet ups arranged. Just check the daily newsletter for details of where and when. Plenty people in the same boat (excuse the pun Grin) travelling with an elderly relative on their own, as well. Have a great cruise!

I’ll investigate for you!

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 01/06/2019 13:11

Sorry they don’t go until a week after. I’m sure there will be lots of other people in the same situation x

Just come back from a cruise - not really my thing TBH.
However, the shows are are lot better than I expected and the second performance is around 22:00.
There's usually a night club you could go to.
Then there's the casino!!!
Just look at the daily events newsletter. Lots on during the day - talks, presentations, quizzes etc. I'm sure you will find others in a similar position too.

If you go onto cruise critic & search for your roll call you can put message on there. There’s often meet ups. You need to register for cruise critic first. Have fun!

Also if you would like to dance (ballroom type) there are men who are paid to dance with ladies on their own. Nothing dodgy! Nice, respectable older men. There are also lounges with someone usually playing the piano where you can relax and have a drink. Also usually a disco if you want something a bit livelier. There is a library which when I cruised sometimes had a jigsaw puzzle on the go. Plenty for quiet or more lively people to do on a cruise especially with a larger ship like the P&O ones.
