AIBU to enjoy evening without DH

spellingtest · 31/05/2019 22:43

I have tonight and tomorrow home alone without DH or DCs. I'm so happy as I can eat what I want, watch what I want, go to bed when I want and if I fart during the night I can do without worrying about disturbing OH or stinking him out. I'll miss him but AIBU not to miss him for a couple of nights and enjoy two nights being totally selfish?

What do you get up to when you have a night home alone?

My husband works shifts - always has done - and I love evenings home alone (in recent years this is when DC are in bed). I have remote control and my choice of food etc. Love it!!

Foxmuffin · 31/05/2019 22:49

Absolutely not!

I love the odd night when DH is away!

Palegreenstars · 31/05/2019 22:50

Marmite pasta

cheesenpickles · 31/05/2019 22:52

Dh sometimes works nights and the kids are good at going to bed. I use it as an opportunity to eat junk food and binge watch shows on Netflix he's not interested in... though usually end up on my phone.

MustBeAWeasly · 31/05/2019 22:53

DH works away one night a week and I love it! I don't do anything different really, I read, watch TV, Potter around. But there's something about getting some time to do it alone that I love.

spellingtest · 31/05/2019 22:53

Phew, I'm not alone! Thanks ladies!

My DH has been away this week and it’s been lovely; I’m also happy to have him back but eating what I want and watching what I want on tv has been great

SallyWD · 31/05/2019 23:00

I love it when my DH is away too!

BackforGood · 31/05/2019 23:04

YANBU at all. I love a weekend when I can just do what I want, when I want, without working round anyone else.

Vandree · 31/05/2019 23:31

My dh works away every few months and can do the odd night. I secretly love it. No proper family dinners to cook, just something quick for the kids and I can have something I want or get a takeaway and watch films he wouldn't watch. I sleep like a baby too, no dh taking over the bed, the covers and snoring. Its nice when he is back but the break can be lovely sometimes

youngestisapsycho · 31/05/2019 23:37

I do all those things anyway when he is home 😂

Popc0rn · 31/05/2019 23:46

I love it, absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that Grin.

Sometimes I invite friends over, but I love having the house to myself tbh. I'll watch films/series that he's not interested in, have a long bath and pamper session, chill out and read, and sometimes have a mad clear out/cleaning session til the early hours...which I know sounds really sad but I love it, love being able to clatter about without worrying about waking him up. I'm a night owl and he's usually in bed by 9pm.

Random man fact. We may bluster loudly about the smell of your farts, but secretly were laughing along with you.

Your not being unreasonable. A bit of you time will make you appreciate the DH / DP more.

SimulationTheorist · 01/06/2019 11:51

Ooh, a Random Man.

Do you speak for ALL MEN?

Randommanopinions · 01/06/2019 12:04

No, only the random ones.

Thanks for all your replies. It seems most of us like a night home alone!

Even better if DH AND DC are out! Enjoy! Grin

Mumofone1593 · 01/06/2019 17:46

Husband and the baby went for a run today and husband told me to have a nice relaxing bath, I instead I had world's quickest shower and lay on the sofa drinking a boiling hot coffee and watched a movie in silence with no baby or husband, it was beautiful.

cheeseislife8 · 01/06/2019 17:46

Oh definitely! For me it's a bath, glass of wine, guilty-pleasure TV and lazy food when DH isn't here! I love a night of me-time. Enjoy Grin

spellingtest · 01/06/2019 18:06

Tonight it's a glass or two of minuty, an M&S 'slap it in the oven' supper and season one of Riviera. I'm living the best life!!

AnybodysDude · 01/06/2019 18:43

I love it.

My DH is going away for two nights in a couple of weeks and it will just be me and the toddler.

Annoyingly it's midweek so it means I'll just have to manage childcare runs without him but I am looking forward to DS going to bed at 7pm and having a couple of evenings to myself!

LouiseMiltonSpatula · 01/06/2019 18:44

Tbh I eat what I want anyway and my husband and I tend to like the same things on TV. But it’s still nice to have alone time now and then!

littlemeitslyn · 01/06/2019 19:39

Anything is better than being alone
( no barrage of sarcasm please)

TowerRavenSeven · 01/06/2019 19:48

No I love it! I make sure the house is really tidy and it stays that way all weekend! I watch horror movies and don’t worry when the screaming gets too loud or I watch movies about psychopaths and don’t have to worry my ds will think I’m morbid. I eat when hungry, heat up my food on a paper napkin in the microwave and throw out the ‘dishes’. I exfoliate my feet on the sofa in the lounge and paint my toenails on it too and don’t have to worry dh will think I’ll get varnish on it or I’m setting a bad example for ds. Enjoy!

Bluebell878275 · 01/06/2019 20:15

My DH was away canoeing in Scotland for a week..I LOVED it! The house was tidy and it smelled nice. Caught up on my programmes, cooked food he hates...still curled up on 'my' side of the bed though (after a good sniff of his pillow lol).
