People Videoing Themselves Whilst Driving

Just been on my Instagram "stories"... the amount of people that video themselves whilst driving is unreal... some whilst children are in the car as well. In utter disbelief. It's one thing using a mobile or texting but videoing yourself in selfie mode? Whilst in control of a vehicle? Endangering not only your life but the lives of innocent other road users? Just for "likes" on SM? Stop the world I'm getting off...

If you zoom out on the map on Snapchat and look at other people's videos, it's rife.

Perhaps these people are using phone holders and can talk to the screen and drive.

It is not ok at all to use a phone or text whilst driving. You are just as bad as the people videoing themselves.

Neither is it acceptable to be talking to a camera (presumably held in a cradle).

Both are as bad as each other as they both divert massive amounts of attention away from driving g. Which should be getting all of the attention.

What are people doing it for? I have never seen it but I can never be arsed watching people’s videos. Are they filming particularly interesting journeys? What’s the point? What exactly are they endangering everyone’s lives for??

No what I meant was it's one thing texting and phoning - as in people that do that are bad enough !!!! But to be videoing yourself as you're driving along?? Just madness.
Even if it's in a cradle it's still a huge distraction as they're not looking at the road they're looking at the phone!!

@LoudBatPerson I don't use my phone while driving I have it zipped away in my bag out of sight so even the temptation is not there to use it. I think it's disgusting people using their phones whilst driving.

Glad we agree. Seeing people distracting themselves at the wheel is a real bugbare of mine.

@LoudBatPerson that's okay I probably didn't use the correct way of wording my OP I can see how it could be misread like that, reading it back.

What are people doing it for

On Snapchat, it seems to be just the view of a dashboard and a bit of outdoors. Generally dark, with Arabic (?) music playing. Have a look - the blue areas on the map show there are snaps to be viewed. I'll try and screengrab one.

@SimulationTheorist in the videos I've seen it's people videoing themselves singing ! Or turning the camera at the kids getting them to say something "cute" all the while you can clearly see through the passenger window that the vehicle is moving!!! Their eyes are fully fixed on the phone the whole time!! It terrifies me.

Oh, bit different to these then. These ones are clearly in a hand, not a cradle though.

With a bit of luck it'll be cracked down on soon. Dangerous idiots.

Makes me want to report the idiots! Especially when their CHILDREN are in the car it winds me right up !
