.... to wear heels?

So, I'm going out for dinner with a guy next week. We're not romantically involved, although he is quite nice. And we're both single. Anyway ...

As he's only 5'4", I usually wear a little dress and my Converse /DMs when we go out. For some reason I really fancy giving my glam new white dress a run out next week but .... it's a dress that absolutely demands heels. I'm not super tall or anything — only 5'7" — but that will shoot up with my four inch heels.

Am I OK to wear them? Or is it verging on unacceptable. Am I just overthinking it?

Sorry for the triteness of the dilemma and thanks for your advice Blush

You are massively overthinking this. Wear what you want. His height is not a relevant factor in any decision you make.

Agree, wear what you like. I know just what you mean about a particular dress style demanding heels too.

Unacceptable to who?

Wear what you like :)

I'm 6ft and i wear heels when i feel like it (not often these days but thats because of kids/dress down sort of job). The way i see it heels don't make me tall, i am tall so why would an extra inch or so make a difference? Same with you and this bloke. If you being 3 inches taller than him isnt an issue (and why the hell should it be) then why would you being 5 inches taller than him be?

You’re already 3 inches taller - I think if he was the type to be put off by taller women he wouldn’t have agreed to a date. Wear the heels if you’re comfortable in them.

Do lesbians or gay men have any apprehension about their partners being taller or shorter?

I don't know, to be honest. I guess they probably do. I don't think overthinking is confined to the heterosexual among us Blush

Anyway, thanks for your advice everyone. I bought the white dress to celebrate my six stones weight loss and I really would love to wear it. Wanders off to dig out her heels Smile

I'm sure he's already noticed that you're taller and it obviously doesn't matter to him or you wouldn't be going on this 'date' or whatever. If you're comfortable in the heels then I'd say wear them.
