To be panicking about this postpartum period?

Posting for traffic, I’m really worried but don’t want to waste GP’s time if this sounds normal.

Baby was born seven months ago, he is EBF although started to wean last month (still doesn’t eat very much though so mostly EBF, never had formula). I’m not taking hormonal contraception.

First postpartum period started late April and it was completely normal for me, same length and flow as I’ve had my whole life. Second period started last week on Wednesday night so was 4 days late and it still hasn’t finished...

I’m getting concerned now, I’ve never had a period last this long and obviously that makes today day nine. I’m concerned because it’s not even reduced to spotting, it’s still mid flow and bright red. I still need a big pad.

Is it worth a call to the GP’s at all or could it just be to do with breastfeeding hormones?

Just giving this a bump for you OP, though with the usual warning that if you need medical advice to go and see a medical professional.

How long is it taking you to soak through a pad? I was soaking one an hour so called the GP and was told that's normal , and that period lasted well over a week. Funny how nobody tells you that bit about having a baby! I genuinely thought I might be going to die I was bleeding that much. If you're worried call for advice, have you got any other symptoms at all?

My periods went mad after dc2. Turned out to be iron deficiency.
