Virgin Media (I know this is petty...)

OK, so I know this is not a big deal in the scheme of things. But I have been a Virgin Broadband customer for years, and have just cancelled as I’m moving. I resisted all their attempts to make me transfer to my new address (their prices just keep increasing) and was finally allowed to cancel. They told me the contract would end on 31st... which it did, 10 minutes after midnight. They have screwed me out of a day of broadband. Fortunately it doesn’t matter for me but if I needed it for work etc it would be seriously annoying!
OK, off my chest! At least I’ll know who to avoid for my new broadband contract...

We've had something similar, used to have our phone TV and Broadband with them but we never watched the TV channels (only really what we would watch on Freeview) and we decided to give up our landline and just go mobile. We changed our package to just Broadband and are paying for the same speed we had before. Except, we now have buffering, slow speeds freezing etc. We never had an issue previously and I think they have done something to deliberately restrict our speed so we'll go back to the full package again. DH wasn't convinced they had nerfed us but is coming around to my way of thinking now

Yes I bet they have done something! My package was broadband only and was always fine but the price had been creeping up for years and they couldn’t offer a reduced price without me signing up for another long contract. I’d shop around as soon as you can if I were you.

I would complain! You should have it till midnight on the 31st! Cheeky.

We have virgin but haven't much choice. It was a new build so no by line in and sky wasn't an option due to trees in front of house (our neighbour got it and got rid after two months as tv signal was terrible).

We only really use the broadband, we generally watch most tv on catch up and usually ignore the house phone (it's sales or mil usually 😂).

However I don't think it's much cheaper for broadband only so not worth changing.

Needed it for work

Did you pay for business or residential contract ?

Same thing happened to us a few years ago, we were unable to contact the solicitor, estate agent, removal company and we were in a bit of a black hole for mobile phones.
We also got 4 or 5 different replies about retuning their equipment.

That would annoy me! It shouldn’t matter what you need it for, if you’ve paid up to and including 31st then you should be entitled to use the service for the full 24 hours that comprises the last day. I’d bet there’s something in the small print that allows them to turn it off at any point on the last day.

VM have been getting steadily worse - the price keeps creeping up and up, but I’ve always been able to negotiate it down in return for signing up for another 12 month contract. But now they’ve whacked it up from £19 to £21 to £30 to £35 within the space of about 6 months, and refuse to budge much on the price. Greedy fuckers.
