DH has taken the DC out for the day, leaving me with an entire Saturday to myself, but no car.

I took the opportunity to clean and tidy both DC bedrooms (5 hours - aagh! so messy, but a chance to throw stuff out without them seeing). In between cleaning, I've done a crossword, had a wank and enjoyed a short walk.

Thinking of having another wank and then some wine and a pizza, a film and an early night.

Have I wasted my free day, or is this a good use of time?

What would other Mumsnetters do with a completely free day to themselves?

Perfect. I'm in a similar situation. I have been to the salon for a wax then got a bottle of wine for tonight. Deep cleaned the dishwasher, it was rank! Tidied up. Bought a new pram for DD after hours and hours of research. Now in the bath with a facemask. Will have a wank later 😂 I feel quite productive tbh.

It was disgusting. The filter had loads of build up of muck and the cap for where you put the salt was really dirty. Like most things that get wet a lot there was a build of limescale and general muck.

Sounds like a nice day. How do you deep clean the dishwasher? Do you just take all the bits out and wash them?

If tidying makes you happy (I know it does some people) it isn’t wasted. I’d consider any day in which the bulk of my time was cleaning wasted, sorry.

Tidying doesn't make me happy. Being in a tidy home makes me happy.

Yes just remove peices and clean, covered the bit underneath the filter in baking soda and vinegar, ran empty on a hot wash

Fair warning, I'm 45 and I still haven't really forgiven my mother for the time she went through my room and threw things out when I wasn't there.
