To think this isn’t cheeky

So I am wanting to rent a shop, previous tenant has posted on social media this week that they are closing down (they rent the shop but sell something completely different than what I will sell) we know each other to say hello to but other than that we aren’t friends or anything. The shop hasn’t been put up to let yet so I was thinking of messaging previous tenant to find out landlord details so I can contact them, i don’t feel like there is anything wrong with doing this as it’s a totally different business I would be setting up in there but some of my family members think it’s a bit cheeky?

Definitely do it- not cheeky at all.

I don't think it's cheeky. You have more chance of success if you're proactive. I would go for it.

Worth a go even if it's a bit cheeky, who cares, it's not like they are a close friend or anything.

Not cheeky if they have already said they are closing. If it was rumours and not confirmed then it is a bit cheeky.
Just be sensitive about it, they may be upset about the closure.
