Suella Braverman and Dominic Grieve on Newsnight

So, apparently, according to Suella Braverman, if Dominic Grieve takes whatever measures are open to MPs to stop a potentially Brexiteer new PM from leading us off a cliff with a no deal Brexit, he will be undermining democracy, going against the Tory manifesto, not giving 17.4 M people what they voted for and should take a look at himself.

Really Hmm?

How much more of this ERG kind of propaganda / crap / nonsense are we going to have to listen to?

That's the standard of political discourse these days. Pitiful.

DippyAvocado · 23/05/2019 23:03

Trouble is, the Brexit fanatics out there will lap up the rubbish the witless Braverman spouts and ignore Domnic Grieve, one of the few former Tory MPs who ever sounded like he knew what he was talking about.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 23/05/2019 23:15

I’ve never heard Braverman say anything remotely sensible. I’m glad I’ve not watched I’m not sure my blood pressure can handle Suella bloody Braverman at the moment.

TheClitterati · 23/05/2019 23:27

Grieve comes across as one of the few level headed sensible clever Tories left.

The ERG woman was hideous. Why are the ERG all so angry? Like something is being personally done to them. I think that is what happens when you carry so much hate and entitlement around inside

It's Very difficult to reconcile that they are both in the same political party isn't it. I can't see how the Tory party are going to survive this shit show.

Yes - though not a bad thing in my opinion, and now some of them think we want to be treated to the gruesome spectacle of one of their leadership contests. Grieve is right when he says that the public won’t like it.

The ERG woman was hideous.

She seemed normal at first, and then started spouting swivel-headed nonsense about democracy. Had she carried on speaking, I wouldn’t have been surprised if she had called Grieve a traitor.

I don’t know why he took it as well as he did. Probably used to having to deal with morons.

Oh yes I expect he is used to it. He also seems quite intelligent, so I expect he realises it's best not to get too involved in arguing with the loons.

I'd love to see the Tory party explode although what the fallout will be and the consequences for the country at this rather fragile time, means I'm a little more reserved than excited.

Maybe we will end up with PR at the end of all of this madness - I'd love to see the end of the 2 party system.

Desolate1 · 24/05/2019 08:15

Yes - me too - the two parties no longer represent everyone and haven’t for a long time.

it's best not to get too involved in arguing with the loons.. - I agree, but at the same time it always makes me cringe thinking there will be people watching lapping up words like Suella’s.

It feels like a verbal lynching, and I am not sure why the journalist didn’t also seek to put her straight on what democracy is and isn’t.

Angry
