To be slightly concerned about the ballot paper?

I’m probably overthinking this, I have a tendency to do that...
I’ve just been to vote, and of all the options... only UKIP had a ‘tag line’. It said ‘Make Brexit Happen’
Just seeemed a little unfair that there wasn’t one underneath LibDems or Greens saying ‘stop Brexit’
Also, this is not a Brexit referendum, therefore a vote for any party will not directly affect the outcome of us leaving the EU?
Wondered if anyone else has noticed this?

It might do us a bit of a favour actually if it confuses potential Brexit party voters.

ethelfleda · 23/05/2019 08:30

True. I guess it seems odd that two pro Brexit parties on the ballot paper stick out like a sore thumb whereas remain parties don’t - you would have had to research policy - and I know quite a few people who vote blindly and don’t really think about where they put their ‘X’

I agree. In our local elections there was also one party that had an extra slogan and it really drew the eye. Either they should all have one or none of them.

RoseAndRose · 23/05/2019 08:36

Surely the ability to add a tag line was there for any party that wanted it?

ethelfleda · 23/05/2019 08:38

You would hope so Rose but I have no idea who prints them and who decides what to put. And if so, why the other parties decided against it?

Well the other parties could add one if they wish- i doubt it matters

RoseAndRose · 23/05/2019 17:36

You'd have to ask the other parties why they decided not to.

I'm not sure who does the actual physical printing (whoever wins the contract that time round, I expect

But what may be included is controlled by law

Di11y · 23/05/2019 17:59

could it be part of their logo?

Pinkvoid · 23/05/2019 18:02

Didn’t even notice it tbh. Just found the party I knew I wanted to vote for and added the x in the box. Most people go in knowing who they’re voting for, doubt a tag line would change their mind.

Medievalist · 23/05/2019 18:07

Do people really not know who they're voting for until they look at the ballot paper? And then vote for the one that stands out the most? Confused

Surely if you can be arsed to get to the polling station you know which party you're going to put your cross against and just look for them in the list?

Laska2Meryls · 23/05/2019 18:12

Yes it's part of their official registered title so they can use it
