to feel anxious about this?

I know lots of women worry about this, but I feel it's becoming a bigger worry than it should be!

My most recent period was really heavy.
(if this is relevant, I'm 43 and 4th child is eight).
I'm hoping it was a "one off" as I have had occasional super heavy ones once in a while over the past few years and the rest of the time it's been fine. It just seems to be once every few months, but now I'm in my 40's I'm wondering if this is going to be a more regular occurrence (My mum suffered terribly with hers leading up to the change).

I'm now due to start another and am terrified of going anywhere that I may leak onto the seat!!
The last one was so heavy that there were times when it was literally gushing. It wasn't prolonged or anything and thankfully was only that extreme for one day.

I have a meeting on Friday (when I have a feeling I may be at my heaviest) and I'm really hoping that this one turns out to be nowhere near as bad!!
However, is there anything I can do to prevent this happening?
Bearing in mind I already have two night time pads (last month it leaked through both, though thankfully I was at home!!).

I'm just so anxious that I will stand up and there will be blood on the chair.

Are there any particular products that anyone finds helpful for this?

I can not help with an immediate solution but I am 38 and I have just had a mirena coil fitted (although I have been sterilised). I know you will get mixed responses on this but I have had one period since the fitting and it was that light I didn't even need to wear anything. I have never had a period like that before. It might be something you could ask your gp about?
