Are they doing my DBS wrong or is it suddenly more complicated these days?

I have given them my passport, driving licence and a bank statement (with my current address on it).

My new employer say they can’t accept the ID because the address on my license doesn’t match the one on my statement (licence is my old address). This isn’t a thing is it??
I thought that so long as one document confirms current address it’s fine? Have they changed the rules?

I have no other proof of address, am a student so no council tax, and utilities aren’t in my name. It’s a right pain.

Well yeah - you realise your committing a criminal offence not updating your driving licence (that you want to use for a criminal records check)

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 20/05/2019 18:28

I've being having DBS checks since they were CRBs, of course the documentation you provide must be up to date and accurate

Amelia910 · 20/05/2019 18:30

You can get fined 1k for not changing/updating your driving license address-its free and you can do it online in 2 mins

kaytee87 · 20/05/2019 18:30

Erm of course your license needs to have the correct address on it! That's the law.

mynameiscalypso · 20/05/2019 18:30

How do they know which one is right other than taking your word for it? They definitely have to match (and as PP says, you need to update your driving license as you're currently breaking the law)

pigsDOfly · 20/05/2019 18:31

DBS checks apart, your driving licence must be updated every time you change any details such as your address.

frankie001 · 20/05/2019 18:32

It all needs to match. Get it updated!

Iamnotagoddess · 20/05/2019 18:33

Your bill also needs to be within the last three months unless it’s a council tax bill.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/05/2019 18:35

Changing your address on a driving license is free and can be done online. You really have no excuse. And how daft do you have to be to send out of date information for an identity check?

Get your license corrected now, before they get to you...

I work in a uni and check the dbs forms before they are sent off .... Everything must match!

RidgedPerfection · 20/05/2019 18:35

As others have said, all documentation needs to be up do date and accurate. I'd change the driving license details straight away rather than risk a big fine.

seesawteddy · 20/05/2019 18:35

Oh right! I didn’t realise about the license. Thanks for that. I’ve only just moved, I haven’t had to change it before. Live and learn!

All addressed must match and you should have updated your licence when you moved you can get fined for not having the right address

AndOutComeTheBoobs · 20/05/2019 19:02

It's really quick to change details on your licence. Once you send it off it will be all before you know it.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/05/2019 19:13

@seesawteddy It is really quick if you can do it online., About a week to get the new one.

But do do it right now... so you don't have to worry about it. It takes just a few minutes to do.

Tinkerbell89 · 20/05/2019 19:16

They require 3 forms of proof of ID & address Inc a photo. Plus it's a legal requirement to update your driving licence with your new address, so yes you should update the licence and submit it then for proof of address.

10000thusername · 20/05/2019 19:17

My driving licence doesn't match my other bills and the NHS were fine with it

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/05/2019 19:23

My driving licence doesn't match my other bills and the NHS were fine with it That's really not a reassuring piece of information!

I had to trawl through all my utility bills as each of them had a slightly different version of my address. I live in a converted property so let's say one company had my flat as A, another as 1, one had my road number as 11-12 (two houses converted into one property), another just had it as 11, etc. So had to find the one that was exactly as on my driving licence.
