Feeling guilty after asking them to keep the noise down

Argh I'm so annoyed at myself, upstairs are three young guys who like to play instruments, I have no problem with this but they were banging on the floor off and on for last three hours. I knocked and told them the music was fine but could they stop the banging as it traveled thorough the entire apartment so could be heard in every room, they were super apologetic and I reassured them several times the music wasn't an issue, now they have stopped playing altogether and I feel ridiculously guilty even though the banging was stressing me out! Am I totally pathetic? Confused

Of course you should have told them to pipe down. They need to be considerate to the people living around them. Hopefully, this has made them aware of how loud they were being.

You were perfectly within your right right to ask them to keep the noise down. If you see them again you could thank them but reiterate you didn’t want them to stop completely.

Why feel guilty?? They need to be considerate. Last thing you wat its them thinking nobody can hear them and playng every day. You have as much right to live peacefully as they do.
