I have just read in my local paper that one local landlady was complaining about the smoking ban because she can now smell all the horrible "natural" smells coming from her patrons. Aparently, the pub now smells of fart!

Honestly, im not joking, it REALLY was an artical in the local rag

she should think herself lucky. Most pubs stick of piss and vomit at the end of a night.

has to be said, i went to a few pubs last sat, and even the nicest ones stank by about 11.30.

Like damp armpits/dog/farts. Both doors were wide open, it wasn't hot, quite cool outside.

no, that's true, i noticed it immediately the smoking ban came in here a year ago. people (and i really mean men) have had to learn not to fart in pubs. irish pubs are the worst, imo. guinness...

AND. with all that methane, it's actually a great idea to ban smoking. No naked flames and all that.....

people underestimate the benefits of cigarette smoke, it's great for keeping insects at bay for example and masks anti social smells

Well, I've not noticed any of these stale piss smells, old puke smells or pungeant fart smells. I've been to a few pubs since the ban, some gastro-pubs and some just for a drink, some with open windows and doors, some with battened hatches because of the weather. They usually smell of air freshener, beer and spirits, cleaners, strong perfumes, occasional farts, but nothing too bad. I'd probably suggest boycotting the pubs with relaxed standards in cleanliness.

can the petition extend to private places? dhs and bedrooms to be precise.

Our local had to refit the gents since years of poor aim had left the place reeking.

Thing is though, the piss, farts, vomit, sweat were all there before, it's just something else smelt even worse.

(and you can leave a pub that smells of piss and the smell doesn't follow you home )

Well, I did my first stint behind the bar last Sunday since the smoking ban came in.

It stank. I smelt farts all night long .. and BO and bad breath.

It was rank in there. And it doesn't smell better in the mornings either.

Some sort of compulsory arse-pad that you had to wear to be allowed entry to the pub, nightclub etc. The bouncer could give you a friendly slap on the arse whilst he opens the door for you to ensure it's in situ

Any farts would set off a chemical reaction omitting bright green(or pretty pink for the girls - Because we do fart ) puff of powder so offender can be identified instantly.

So - either people object to a)wearing pad b)friendly bouncer pat on the arse so don't go to the pub OR c)wear it and don't fart for fear of embarrassment and/or beating - Problem solved

I went to a night club last week and it smelled vile.... a combination of stale cheap perfume, farts and horrendously rank sweat.

I think those smells were there before and were not so much 'masked' by smoke, but rather whisked away by the powerful air conditioning, which doesn't seem to be switched on since the smoking ban.

sounds like they all need professional carpet cleaners and some flash on the walls
