Would it be wrong to turn this into a crop topish thing?

My ex dad gave him a Munich 1972 t-shirt and I’ve just dug it out of storage. I really love the look of it (btw I was born in 90’s) I always naively always thought it was a band shirt as my ex was always really into music.

I was planning to cut it up into a cool crop top sort of thing for summer because I’m broke and it’s cool but I’ve just googled it and I’m a bit worried it might upset people 😩 due to the the attack at the olympics....Aibu to repurpose and wear it? Would it be bad form? Thing is I would otherwise just give it away or throw it.

I wouldn't touch it, if I'm honest. The pattern isn't placed so it'd make a great crop top and it's too linked to the events (even for me; born in the 90s too).

ooopsupsideyourhead · 18/05/2019 22:10

I’d think it was bad form, or assume you weren’t the sharpest tool, or assume you were the sort who was deliberately provocative.

So, nothing good. Sorry...

Just looked online they are still selling them. I didn’t know about it at all not from the uk Eu but my ex often wore it...I meant more tank top then crop without the Munich 1972? Hate to throw out a perfectly good top maybe I could just dye it black?

I wouldn't die it either. Can you give it to someone who would wear it as is, or back to your dad?

Nameisthegame · 18/05/2019 22:31

It was my ex dad no dead, my ex won’t speak to me. If I just cut it down like a tank top so it would fit me? It’s just too large for me. Tbh I don’t really know anyone as I live abroad I could ask my friend but if he says no that’s it.

People would think you were either dim or being deliberately offensive. It's like wearing a t-shirt with another tragedy/terrorist attack written across the front. I imagine it would cause offense. It's just an old t-shirt, do you really need it?!?

CarolinaChina · 19/05/2019 17:35

I wouldn’t wear it.

Catchingbentcoppers · 19/05/2019 17:38

Absolutely not. Really, that's not cool at all.

grincheux · 19/05/2019 17:46

I hope you're joking. Unless you've already got crop tops to commemorate the Boston Marathon, Hillsborough, Munich air disaster and the Bradford City fire, in which case this one wouldn't be out of place.

Littlepond · 19/05/2019 17:54

Omg bin it

DerrenBrownings · 19/05/2019 17:59

It's an old t shirt. Just cut it up and use it for rags. The amount of time and money it would take to do something with that to make it wearable would be a huge waste when you can buy something nicer in a charity shop for 50p.

RottnestFerry · 19/05/2019 18:42

Bin it. Wearing it, cropped or not, would be in really bad taste.
