I swear by Delia Smith's rice; Jamie Oliver's roast chicken and Mary Berry's Lemon Drizzle cake. All really easy and work perfectly every time.

Any others you would wholeheartedly recommend?

Any tray bake or one pan meal - saves on washing up too!

Can we narrow down the category?

I've found some of my favourite recipes from the internet.

I google for recipes using certain ingredients and more often than not something good will come up and they're usually quite simple.

It's certainly become my go to method of finding inspiration and new things to make.

@craftygin any category - I like baking and cook a dinner almost every night but need some inspiration, I tend to make the same sorts of things.

Nigel Slater's chocolate fudge pudding. It's so easy that it's known as Piece of Piss Pudding in our house. I saved the recipe from the Observer food section about 15 years ago, but can't seem to find it online.

Anything by Mary Berry. Her rice pudding uses cream instead of milk and is just fab, her raspberry mousse is delicious, the extra egg in her Yorkshire pudding makes them extra rich and yummy and her Victoria sponge is nicer than any other and I don't quite know why.

Like Delia's recipes, Nigel Slater's and Mary Berry's seem to be 100% reliable, but they are always extra delicious, too.

Jamie's roast chicken is literally:

  • roughly cut up carrots and onions
  • put them in bottom of roasting dish and put chicken on top
  • insert two half lemons into chicken
  • slather chicken in butter and add salt and pepper
  • cook for one hour 20 mins et voila!

So, so easy. He does also mention things like sprigs of thyme but we don't have those hanging around so did without Grin
